Wearable Art
Origin Story: Anxiety and lack of finances.
Why I started making wearable art: I moved to Eindhoven in June 2021 with very little luggage and couldn't afford to buy new clothes.
I started buying pre-loved outfits from second-hand shops. The low prices and my obsession to use anything I can as a canvas inspired me to start using old textiles to practice self-care and manage my anxiety.
Before I knew it, my second-hand clothes became my personal billboard for my art, story, and life philosophy.
Goal of the creative process: Give new life to old clothes and upcycle pre-loved textiles into wearable canvases for your creativity.
Materials used: old textiles, acrylic paint, stencils, scissors, safety pins, beads, textile paint, permanent/textile markers.
