Body Art
Origin Story: My mom's breast cancer.
Why I started making body art: My mom went through breast cancer and mastectomy in 2021 while I was struggling with major depression, so I couldn't support her like I wanted to. I intuitively started making body art as a way to bond with her, spend quality time together, and help her embrace her new body.
Goal of the creative process: Reconnect with the body and give it the attention, love, and respect it deserves.
Materials used: make-up, glow-in-the-dark body paint and powders, and upcycled natural ingredients, such as flowers and snakeskin.
The images below reflect my creative process as both an artist and a canvas.
